Sony Ericsson Elm Review

The Sony Ericsson Elm is a new mobile phone from the Greenheart family of eco-friendly mobile phones.

The Sony Ericsson Elm is a nice and appealing mobile phone. The SE Elm comes in a candy bar design, but it is not of a classic form as the back of the phone comes in a human curvature design. The body of this environment-helper is made of recycled plastic. Nevertheless, it doesn’t seem that the phone cheap if you look at it. It is very pleasant and convenient to hold the device in hands thanks to its ergonomic dainty curve. But be carefull if you have wet hands – the SE Elm can get slippery.

The size of the Sony Ericsson Elm compiles 110 mm x 45 mm x 14 mm. The weight of the device is 90 grams.

The Sony Ericsson Elm’s TFT screen measures 2.2 inches. Its resolution compiles 240 x 320 pixels. The screen supports 256K colors. There is an accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate.

The Sony Ericsson Elm runs GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 with a 2G network and HSDPA 2100, HSDPA 900 / 2100 with 3G network.

The browsers of the Alm are the following: WAP 2.0 and HTML (NetFront) web browsers. The RSS reader is available.

The essential features of the Sony Ericsson Elm include a standard organizer with a calculator, calendar, alarm, phone book for 1,000 entries, voice memo and voice dialing.

The messaging services of the Sony Ericsson Elm include text and multi-media messaging, instant messaging, e-mail with Push E-mail. The T9 technology for quick texting is supported.

The Sony Ericsson´s music player is standard and it supports popular MP3, eAAC+, and WAV music file formats. The video player of the device supports MP4, H.263, and H.264 file formats.

The camera of the Sony Ericsson Elm is 5 megapixels with the resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The camera of the phone features auto focus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face detection and smile detection, and video calling. There is also a video recorder that takes video clips at the resolution of 640×480 pixels and at 30 frames per second.

The call quality of the Sony Ericsson Elm is really good. The Elm has a Noise Shield feature that filters sounds of the environment and makes the sound clearer.

The battery life of the SE Elm compiles up to 10 hours of 2G talk time and up to 430 hours of 2G stand-by time. As for 3G the battery life of the Elm makes up 4 hours of talk time and up to 446 hours of stand-by mode.

The internal memory of the Sony Ericsson Elm offers 280 MB. And there is an option to increase the phone’s memory up to 8 GB using a microSD memory card.
